BabyCenter.com faced a similar problem in India. With 25 million births a year India is a prime market for them, however their reach (of babycenter.in) was limited to 5% of the Indian parents. India like Sri Lanka has a high mobile penetration of 38% compared to internet. BabyCenter launched a voice portal which mothers could dial and listen to audio versions of the online newsletters and other specific information.
Technology requires marketers to be infinitely more flexible to interact with customers in areas where TV is a luxury.
